Extra-Ordinary
Event : Now
He was to enter into very important phase of His life. Even though living
in a foreign land, He had also continued to live a spiritual and devoted
life. After completion of His thesis in the allotted time, an
extra-ordinary event took place which was to change His course of life. Once while He was sitting in a garden, He experienced a powerful flow of energy within Himself. Thereupon, He became afraid and went running to His home where He heard a clear inner voice (God’s message) and was told that : “YOUR
DIVINE INCARNATE MANIFESTATION HAS TAKEN PLACE FOR THE WELFARE OF MANKIND.
THE NECESSARY (EDUCATIONAL) KNOWLEDGE WHICH WAS TO BE OBTAINED GETS
COMPLETED. NOW RENOUNCE ALL THE WORLDLY GOODS AND ENTER INTO ‘SADHANA’.” Upon
receiving the above divine command, He immersed whatever He was possessing in His home
like books, money and thesis in the Hudson River and in
accordance with it, He began His Sadhana. This
Sadhana was very difficult. It has been heard His having said : “(In
the first) six months, I never came to know as to when the sun had arisen
and set.” Due to intensive penance, the body had become extremely
emaciated. After about one and half years, in the year 1954 A.D., He
returned to India after receiving a command to do so.
After his having returned to India, the period 1954 A.D. – 1968 A.D. passed mostly in performance of Internal ‘Sadhana’. During this period, in between, in accordance with inspiration received from within, He went on pilgrimage to main pilgrimage centers and twice he went on pilgrimage tour to Amarnath Bhagwan (Himalayas). Also due to His past relationship with Ramakrishna Bhagwan in continuation of the earlier incarnation work, He had to go to Calcutta (Belur Math) eighteen times. During
this period, He had stayed at Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh and Kutinyana. He
had stayed for longer periods at Rajkot and Jamnagar. At Rajkot, for a
certain period of time staying in a hutment and living in a mood of an
ascetic, He practiced high religious vows. Remaining in an intense ascetic
mood, He used to remain absorbed in daily routine Sadhana. After His
having received a command from the above to remain in the state of
Godhead, He began the practice of Arti (waving of lights) before His
internal form and in the daily routine life, He used to stay in the same
state. Life
: The
yardstick of the degree of spiritual life of a human being can be judged
from the fact as to how far his life confirms to his teachings. His
life and His teachings were one and the same. Whatever teachings He gave
were in strict confirmation to the life which He led. Evaluation
of His life is impossible. It is because it is difficult to understand and
explain His wonderful divine play because of His complete identity with
Para-Brahm. It is because how an incomplete (personal soul) can explain
the complete (Brahm, see footnote). Yet, let us see in brief whatever has been seen and
experienced externally. He
was Himself the divine form of Para-Brahm Parmatma. In order to
understand this, it is a sufficient proof of His possessing some special
spiritual powers and distinguishing characteristics. He was an
extraordinary treasure house of qualities of divine wealth. Qualities like
truth, non-violence, compassion, love, austerity, renouncement,
forgiveness, equanimity, purity etc. were seen to exist in the highest
degree. Moreover, a circle of light reflecting essence of His being an
Incarnation used to remain in existence surrounding His face. In his
vicinity extra-ordinary supreme peace used to be experienced. His body and
their parts were seen to be similar to those of divine personage as shown
by the scholars of science of Chiromancy (e.g. long hands reaching upto
His knees etc.). Intense yearning for welfare of the world was seen to
exist within Him as expression of universal love. Violence upon dumb
creatures melted His heart and tears used to flow from his eyes and
beholding this one used to experience compassionate Brahm in its absolute
state. Innumerable such characteristics were found to exist within Him.
His life was supremely pure, full of asceticism and simplicity. Brahm = Brahm is existence eternal, consciousness absolute, compassion infinite. |
